What common chemical was found in 99% of Breast Tissue samples taken from mastectomies? A chemical commonly used in topplicaly applied skin and body care products.
Dr. Mercola reported this week on a study published in the Journal of Applied Toxicology that 99% of 160 breast tissue samples tested from mestectomies contained Parabens (n-propylparaben, methyparaben, n-butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylaraben).
“You know more about the ingredients in your dog’s flea collar than you know about the toxicity of whatever you’re putting on your skin”, argues David Walling, a senior scientist with Natural Resources Defense Council, Washington, D.C.
In 1938 the FDA granted “self-regulation” to the Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrance Association. Isn’t that like the Fox guarding the hen house? The vast majority of some 100,000 chemicals now on the market in topically applied commercial products have never been tested for toxicity, with nearly 70 percent estimated to be contaminated with chemical impurities linked to cancer, and now obesity.
CONCLUSIVE evidence is being uncovered: Universities, scientific researchers, World Health Organization, American Cancer Society, CDC, EPA, and National Institutes of Health are releasing reports about these chemicals and being picked up by mainstream media, CBS, U.S. News, National Library of Medicine, PBS, USA etc.
The EPA tests conclude that ingredients in skin and personal care products may be playing havoc with hormones. Even the FDA now states that “hormone disruptors” pose enormous long-germ chronic health risks.
We are creating new disease symptoms that cannot be diagnosed. Physicians who practice environmental medicine estimate that chemical sensitivity affects up to 50% of today’s population. Over time, people succumb to malignancies, lymphomas, neurological, vascular and other diseases.
Recent studies by dermatologists at the University of California confirm that skin absorption is a major route of entry (oh yeah). Chemicals absorbed topically are undiluted and unchanged because the digestive tract is by-passed. Research has discovered that significant amounts of chemical ingredients , including mutagenic and carcinogenic substances, like Parabens and many others, penetrate the skin and enter the blood stream directly. A 15 minute hot shower you absorb more chlorine than drinking 8 glasses of tap water.
Parabens found in the majority of skincare products contain synthetic estrogen, a major factor in the growth and development of breast cancer. It has been found that parabens can accumulate intact in the body from the long-term, low-dose exposure.
Every morning women (and men) ready themselves for the day, they look good, smell good and have just exposed themselves to on average over 200 chemicals.
But also BUYER BEWARE, products labeled “natural” or “non-toxic” maynot be safe at all. I will add to the post regarding this.
It is time for Practitioners to start taking a bigger and urgent role. I am now working on a huge mission with integrative medical doctors and gynecologists with a specific protocol and education on this very subject in turning the tide on this wide spread danger.
Dr. Rashid Buttar has taken up our cause. He will be speaking at the next Tour Le de Pearl June 1st-2nd. Dr. Buttar is ranked in the top 50 Advanced Integrative Medical Doc’s in the country, Chairman of the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology, President of the N.C. Integrative Medical Society.

Allergic reactions to many types of cosmetics may occur when the skin is repeatedly exposed to small amounts of allergy causing ingredients. Pollen is a common allergen, in fact, most allergens are natural substances, (i.e. poison ivy, ragweed). Some ingredients used in cosmetics may also be allergens. Usually these ingredients are beneficial for the vast majority of people. However, just as there are people sensitive to pollens, some people are sensitive to cosmetic ingredients. Allergic skin reactions usually occur after several months (or years) of exposure to the ingredient’s. It is important to understand that cosmetic related skin allergies usually don’t happen right away.
Fragrance ingredients are the most common cosmetic allergens. In fact, sensitivity to preservatives (necessary for proper shelf-life) and fragrances account for most cosmetic-related skin allergies. Simple irritations usually reverse themselves when exposure is discontinued. However, symptoms may worsen with repeated exposure or could develop into skin allergies. Once skin develops an allergic sensitivity to an ingredient, the allergy will be permanent! When the skin’s immune system recognizes an ingredient as an allergen, it never forgets and will always react negatively upon exposure. Clearly, all nail professionals should understand the importance of avoiding product overexposure.
With the Dr Baumann Products it is easy to avoid any exposure to allergy causing ingredients or even ingredients that just migh irritate the skin, because Dr Baumann does not contain any of the known listed allergy causing ingredients. A product that you are using may not cause you any problems now, but is it worth finding out the hard way?
