A lot of people aren’t sure what serums or ampoules are? Whether or not they are important to use? Well, let me explain what they are: According to me they are the most wonderful, underestimated secret in the beauty industry. Serums are a concentrate of the active ingredients in a moisturizer or cream. This is why sometimes we might feel like using a serum alone is not enough, even though it is delivering all the active ingredients we need. The originally intended use for serums is to boost your skin care routine. So, if you have a moisturizer that you love and you want to give it a little bit of extra moisture or vitamins (or whatever the serum is for, it can be redness, acne, anti aging, etc.) go ahead!
How To Use Serums?
You can either use the serum and then apply your moisturizer, or mix the two in your hands, then apply. The other incredible use is to mix and match (and this is when us professionals come in to help). For example, anti aging moisturizer and acne treating (like Herb Vital ampoule) serum.
Or a basic moisturizer for oily skin and a hydrating serum (like Humidity ampoule) for those “dehydrated but oily” skins. I’m sure many can relate right? Ohh! So many possibilities…
Other great uses for serums are:
-Hot weather (when the humidity in the air makes ANY cream heavy)
-Men (since they tend to not love creams)
-Teens (because they don’t need the richness of a cream yet)
-Extremely oily skins (because they need the hydration and nourishment,
minus the oil of the cream)
-Upgrading your basic skin care routine (my favourite reason!!)
I am currently alternating between Dr. Baumann Humidity Ampoule (pure hydration in a bottle LOVE IT!) and Dr. Baumann Horse Chesnut Ampoule (I use it every 28 days if you know what I mean… helps with inflammation and sensitivity for those nasty breakouts)
For your very own “combo”, ask your esthetician at the closest location to you.
The possibilities are endless!

What Does “Bionome” Mean?
“Bionomy” is the science of the laws of life. These laws are the basis of the development and production of our skincare products. This means that we take into account the metabolic processes in the human body and skin, and concern ourselves with environmental aspects.
The principles of bionome skincare are:
• Optimal compatibility through the application of skin care and allergy research into the choice of ingredients.
• A targeted selection of ingredients whose effect has been described, documented and are beneficial to the skin.
• A harmony between ingredients and the skin. This is achieved when as many as possible of the ingredients exist naturally in the skin.
• Environmentally friendly through the avoidance of unnecessary packaging.
• Animal-friendly through the exclusion of animal substances.
In a nutshell, Dr. Baumann cares about keeping the environment and your skin safe. Most importantly, our products work. Why? Because they are compatible with the skin. When you go back to basics, and respect nature (including us, humans) everything works beautifully.
If you have any questions about Dr. Baumann, Bionomy or our products, don’t hesitate to ask us, or talk to any of our certified Skinologists. Have a great bionome week!
